GeM (Government e-Marketplace) is the central portal where government buyers procure goods and services from registered sellers.
Seller registration requires validated PAN, Aadhaar-linked mobile number, GSTIN, bank account details, and — for MSME benefits — Udyam registration.
Registered sellers can list products and services, respond to bids and reverse auctions, and receive direct orders from government buyers.
MSMEs get specific advantages: exemption from Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) and purchase preferences under the Public Procurement Policy.
DPIIT-recognized startups can also access relaxed criteria on the platform.
